Lost in the Dark
Darkness that encages. I am swallowed up by it so.
Monsters follow my every step as I search for an escape. One is always there in the distance.
I never reach it.
Still, I try. I want more than the monsters and the darkness.
I need a life, I am desperate for freedom.
Whispers fill my ears, meant to erode my hope.
Hope is all that keeps me going. Keeps me searching for an escape.
The stars taunt me so, just as the whispers mean to erode. They show me how life can be more.
Family, friends, love had never been meant for me. The darkness had swallowed me whole.
Until I saw the stars in your eyes.
You closed the distance for me.
Be warm
The world feels so cold as I stare at the indigo blue of the sky.
The stars fade into black and indigo. I long to fade as well.
But my strings are pulled tight, my every step a story told. My heart held captive so I will behave.
Can I be called human when I’m as cold as stone? I listen and obey with a silent tongue.
I long to rebel within. I long to soar in the black and indigo of the sky.
Your sharp teeth and spiked tongue always control me. They whisper dark spells that made me cold. They make me obey.
You never think of my strings, believing them to be cold iron when they are silk. Slowly you nick and cut them with your words.
So I’m cold for a moment, my strings pulled to your way.
It won’t last forever and I shall be free.
I promise to soar in the morning light where it is warm.
Tarnished Gold
Golden wings and golden hopes fly in daylight’s dreams. They soar so high in hopes of reaching the stars. It cannot last.
The gold fades to silver.
Dreams and duties clash. War’s demands are made at last.
Duty wins and dreams die a bloody death.
Chains hold us down as silver fades to gray. Our minds are enslaved to war’s cruel desires.
Red blood, hot and sticky, stains our hands.
All we can do is obey as our gray minds turn black.
Blacken wings and blacken nightmares choke us in the darkened night’s poisoned hopes.
Our lives fade in death. The next generation left scared and unsure.
Their dreams and hopes stop the war for a time. They burn the black away and polish the gold beneath.
Maybe, they can last.
Together, we can stand
Darkness follows my every step with sharp claws. It’s a dragon that seeks my end.
I stare it down.
I will not run nor hide. For I have blood eyes at my side.
Harbinger in their hand and Gungnir in mine, we shall survive.
We are each other’s shield and sword. Tired and worn from all, we heal one another.
Silver meets blood and hope is given.
It’s all I can do to breathe. Those blood eyes keep me grounded in this endless war.
Love in those eyes tell me that I do the same for them.
Death feels endless with the darkness that surrounds us.
But their hand in mine at sunrise will always see us through.
Hate and Love
Love is hate.
Powerful and all consuming. It swallows you like tar.
Hot, sticky, it burns you through. With no treatment in sight, it scars you true.
Gone is the sweet innocent, long dead by another’s callused hands. Hateful rage is all that remains.
Wicked and foul, it will never die.Immortal in it’s pain as it ever grieves for it’s loss.
It’s life cold and hallow. It’s memories filled with joy forever gone.
Hate cannot forget love is gone.
Poisoned and pained, hate will remember against it’s will. It claws at it’s open wounds so that they cannot heal.
It uses the pain to keep itself alive.
But it forgets.
Hate is love.
The two are the different sides of the same coin. They are forever one.
